Walking and Golf

As you will have noted, Nerja is sandwiched between the beautiful shoreline of the Mediterranean Sea, and the dramatic mountain range composed of the Sierras de Almijara, Tejeda and Alhama. And after being used for decades by local shepherds, these mountains contain hundreds of miles of routes and footpaths, which can now be used by walkers to explore the area.

SpainAway has produced its own specialist website on walking in the area - www.NerjaWalking.com - which contains details of a good number of walking routes, many researched directly by ourselves, starting both in Nerja itself, and in the surrounding villages of Maro, Frigiliana, Torrox, Torrox Costa and Competa.

This website is constantly being updated with new routes and necessary modifications to existing ones. So, yes, we do indeed keep on trying out our routes, looking for changes due to building work or whatever - tough work, but somebody has to do it!

Then, not for nothing is the Costa del Sol known as the Costa del Golf, and, although the really dedicated golfer will usually stay in a development centred on the golf course itself, a far more rewarding experience, especially for the more casual golfer, might be to stay in a holiday resort offering great beaches, a multitude of restaurants, and other attractions - including golf!

And Nerja fits this description perfectly. Accordingly we have constructed a further website, dedicated just to the local golf scene, entitled www.NerjaGolf.com.

The courses that we cover on this website are as follows. Heading west from Nerja we first of all come to Baviera Golf, followed by Añoreta Golf. Further west still, and close to Málaga airport is the coastal Parador Malaga del Golf club and, further inland, the Guadalhorce Club de Golf. Heading out from Nerja in the other direction, to the east, and close to Motril, can be found the Los Moriscos Golf Course.

Then, more related accommodation-wise, to our companion RuralGranadaVillas website, there are Granada Club de Golf and Santa Clara Golf, Granada.
